The show must go on, even with a broken shoe.
Zara Larsson put on a masterclass in staying calm under pressure during a May 8 appearance on the Today show for its Summer Concert Series after she broke the heel on one of her shoes mid-performance and kept dancing anyway, per People. After performing hits like "Midnight Sun," "Pretty Ugly" and "Stateside," Larsson treated the New York City crowd to "Lush Life," complete with the fan-favorite dance.
The Swedish pop star, 28, kept the tradition of bringing someone on stage to do the choreography with her by enlisting the help of Today co-host Sheinelle Jones; however, she explained that they needed to go even harder on the dance moves because of an unexpected wardrobe malfunction.
"We gotta dance extra hard because I lost my heel!" she said, showing off the broken shoe in question.
Larsson remained without the heel for a few interviews and performances before she finally reemerged with a shoe in one piece to sing "Blue Moon" during the 3rd Hour of Today.
"Now as I'm older I really practice to be present and to be in the moment," she said. "And I really do feel like I really take it all in and I feel really grateful and happy for everything that's happening."
Larsson recently released her remix album Midnight Sun: Girl's Trip, featuring a stacked list of collaborations with artists like Shakira, Robyn, PinkPantheress, Kehlani, Tyla and more.
"I'm so proud and happy. I love it, I love every song. I love every woman on these songs. I love the production. This is an expansion of the Midnight Sun world that I also love so dearly," she said during an iHeartRadio Album Preview, adding, "I think music and culture in this day and age, it moves quickly, but I'm definitely not ready to move on from Midnight Sun, for a little while at least. And I just thought, 'how fun.' It would be so fun."
