Drew Barrymore is using her experience of getting plastic surgery as a teenager to help other women.

The beloved actress made a rare comment about the breast reduction, also known as reduction mammaplasty, she had when she was 17 years old while talking to an expert about breast cancer awareness during a recent episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, per E! News.

While speaking to OBGYN Dr. Kameelah Phillips, the 50 First Dates star referenced her own procedure while asking about the steps people should take in their health journeys in the hopes of helping others learn more about breast cancer screenings.

"What if someone's had a reduction like me?" she asked, posing more questions other people may have who have also gone under the knife. "What if someone has had implants or enhancements like a lot of people out there? How does any alteration of our bodies also play into that process?"

Phillips noted that in addition to getting a typical mammogram, those who have had cosmetic procedures on their breasts should also get imaging done, which Barrymore herself said she participates in for her own health monitoring.

"I always get a mammogram and an ultrasound, always both," she said. "I also know how fortunate and privileged that is."

Despite getting the cosmetic procedure done years ago, it's not something she is really considering moving forward. Speaking to People in 2023, the Scream actress, who recently turned 50 years old, joked that she was looking forward to "seeing what I look like as leather bag in the future."

"I haven't done anything, and I'm going to maintain that as long as possible," she said at the time. "I have zero judgment for anyone doing anything. But I don't see myself resorting to it."
