Justin Timberlake Releases Political "Supplies" Visual (VIDEO)

Following the release of his lead Man of the Woods single "Filthy" two weeks ago, Justin Timberlake promised fans that leading up to the release of the full album, he would share three more singles and music videos (from three different directors), beginning January 18th, and that the songs will be released weekly. Well, January 18th is finally here and we have another new MOTW song called "Supplies."

Justin first teased "Supplies" at the beginning of his Behind: Man of the Woods (The Album) video, giving fans a very brief inside look at a few tracks from the record and how it came together. Listening to the song in the studio, despite the track's obvious trap beat, Justin says "it's a country melody," which ties in with the album's "wide range of sonics" that Justin describes as "modern Americana with 808s."

In "Supplies," produced by The Neptunes, Justin sings about being the rock for his lady to rely on because he has the "supplies" for survival. He sings, "I'll be the lie when you can't say it/I'll be the world when you need meI'll be the generator, turn me on when you need electricity/Some sh*ts 'bout to go down/I'll be the one with the level head/The world can end now/Baby, we'll be living in The Walking Dead/'Cause I got supplies."

Along with the song, comes the politically-charged "Supplies" music video, which was directed by Dave Meyers (Kendrick Lamar, Camila Cabello, Katy Perry). The just over four minute visual stars Justin and actress Eiza González, who last year appeared in Baby Driver as Monica "Darling" Castello (Jon Hamm's love interest), with an appearance from Pharrell

The video begins with Justin sitting in front of a wall of TV sets that are all broadcasting controversial news topics like gun control, racism, sexual harassment and the #metoo movement. Then, he steps outside into the world encountering several cult-like crowds with Eiza, until finally he rises up out of the dirt in a post-apocalyptic scene with destruction all around them. Finally, Justin and Eiza find a group of children who also survive and one of the steps forward to say (to the viewer), "You’re still asleep. Wake up!"

Man of the Woods will be Justin's fourth full-length studio album, and is set to be released via RCA Records on February 2nd. The album is said to combine the sounds of "traditional American rock with modern influences of a few of his collaborators," which include The Neptunes, Timbaland, Chris Stapleton, and Alicia Keys. And as for lyrical content, the stories behind the songs are inspired by his son (Silas), his wife (Jessica Biel), and his personal journey from his hometown Memphis, Tennessee, to where he is today.

In a video trailer for the album, Justin said, "This album is really inspired by my son, my wife, my family, but more so than any other album I've ever written, where I'm from. And, it's personal."
